German Insolvency Proceedings Decline

German local courts reported a total of 70,990 requests for the opening of insolvency proceedings in the first half of 2013, data from the Federal Statistical Office revealed Friday.

This was down by 7. 8 percent from the same period of last year.



Enterprises accounted for 13,253 and consumers for 45,715 of the total 70,990 requests for insolvency proceedings, it said.



Insolvency among enterprises declined 10. 3 percent and that among consumers by 8. 2 percent.
