Yen Extends Gain Against Majors

The Japanese yen continued its early gains against other major currencies ahead of the European session on Tuesday.

The demand for yen was supported after Japan Finance Minister Taro Aso's statement that the government is not planning to buy foreign bonds as part of its efforts to ease monetary policy.

The government is also not considering an immediate change to the law governing the Bank of Japan, he added.

The yen climbed to 4-day highs of 93.44 against the greenback, 124.67 against the euro, 144.67 against the pound, 101.19 against the franc, 78.87 against the kiwi and 92.44 against the loonie, compared to yesterday's close of 93.96, 125.46, 145.33, 101.78, 79.43 and 92.99, respectively.

Against the aussie, the yen advanced to 96.52 from an early Asian session's multi-day low of 96.98.
